Welcome to the
Grainger County Tomato Festival
The Grainger County Tomato Festival was organized in 1992 to promote Grainger County
Tomatoes. Our mission is to promote all Grainger County agricultural
products, specifically the Grainger County Tomato, and to promote the many
local artists and craftsmen we have in our area. Over the years we have added a number of special events making the
festival one of the largest free festivals in East Tennessee. The festival is
always the last full
weekend in July. Be sure to mark your calendars! You don't want to
miss it.

Around the Festival
2011 Was another Good Year
The 2011 Festival was a big success in spite of the heat. It was the second hottest festival in 18 years, with temperatures pushing the century mark. Attendance was estimated at 20,000. Tomato and produce sales were very good, with thousands of boxes of vegetable goodies leaving during the festival. All three stages of music were well attended and the vendors did well. Our new tractor show, with 68 entries was very well received and brought back many memories. In addition to the tractors, we had a working grist mill & stationary hay baler in operation. Next year we hope to have 125 tractors present, as well as an expanded Living History area with more demonstrations of traditional crafts and historic agriculture. We were pleased to have the Civil War men back. This year many took the oportunity to find Civil War ancestors using modern computer technology. The fine art, history and authors area was packed and achieved it's goal of sharing information and culture with a wide audience. We had more commercial vendors and more things for children to do. Our famous Tomato Wars has been expanded to both Sat. and Sun. so that more folks can get into the action. One goal we have for next year is to improve our evening activities; more things to do when it's a little cooler. We want to thank all committee members who organized events, maintained the grounds, and did all those things that made our festival one of the best. We also want to thank all our sponsors listed below. Without their gifts of money and services we would not have a festival.
We look forward to seeing you all in 2012!!! 2012 will be the 20th anniversary of the Festival Committee and we hope to do some really special things to celebrate. Hope it's not so Hot!
Congratulations to our Pageant Winners!
