1. Open to all individuals who are willing and able to field a team. Groups will be divided
into three different age groups AGES: 12 AND UNDER WILL START AT 10:OOA.M.. AND
AGES: 13-16 IMMEDIATELY AFTER. AND AGES; 17 AND UP IMMEDIATELY
AFTER THAT. For those individuals who do not have a team, they will be placed on a team
of their age group EVERYONE WHO SIGNS UP IN A TIMELY MANNER WILL GET TO PLAY.
2. Teams will consist of 5 members, male and/or female. Team members under the age of 18 must provide
their parents/guardians signature. Teams must fill out an application completely before
participation. Each team can have 1 alternate (if they advance up in the wars), but
no one may be subbed in after a match begins.
3. An entrance fee will be $5.00 per team member, a total of $25.00 per team. All monies go
directly to Grainger County Special Olympics. Certificates
will be awarded to the 1st and 2nd place team members in the first TWO AGE GROUPS –
Trophies will be awarded to 1st and 2nd place winners in the 17 & UP age groups.
This is to prevent arguments on who gets to take the trophy home. The 17 & UP team
members, have already made that decision.
4. All participants must wear white T-shirts and will be provided with a fixed amount of well-ripened
tomato ammunition. THE ONLY AMMUNITION YOU CAN USE, WILL BE THOSE THAT ARE
PROVIDED. Any attempt to circumvent this rule will bring immediate disqualification.
5. A team member will be considered "dead" when there is evidence of a direct hit on
his/her shirt. Hits elsewhere will be considered "wounding." The amount of ammunition
will be limited to eliminate excessive
"wounding."
6. Disputes will be settled by the referees and their decisions are final. When the
whistle blows, all play stops.
7. Absolutely NO PHYSICAL CONTACT WILL BE PERMITTED between contestants.
8. All teams must have a "name," and stay at the infield site and be prepared to battle
when their age group and team are called. If not, this could result in a forfeit.
9. Each match will last until all players are "dead" or 30 minutes have elapsed.
10. All participants must use safety glasses, (unless you sign a waiver stating it is
your decision not to)during the war. Some glasses will be provided, but they may not
be as comfortable as your own.
11. All combatants will act in a respectful manner, personal physical violence and
excessive use of unsavory language will not be tolerated, this could result in that
team member being ejected from the war.
12. Your signed application constitutes an agreement on your part to abide by all of the
above rules.
13. Every effort is being made to make this a much better Tomato Wars than in previous years.
We have divided the team up by age groups. We hope this will constitute in making this
the best wars ever.
